Mount Priafaia is a beautiful panoramic point: you can reach it from Fáie with a nice walk.

How to reach it:
a) By bus from Varazze.
b) By car: from Varazze you have to follow the county road to Sassello, after one and a half kilometer, you have to turn right and take the route which climbs up to Casanova and Fáie.

Go down from the road that starts in front of Fáie church (482 m), until you meet a branch that goes up on the right (Via Mogliazza). If you follow it you will reach the trail coming from Varazze which is marked by a red cross. Go on following the red cross (see route n. 3). Leave to your right the dirt road that goes from Fáie to Prato Rotondo and go straight on the trail marked by the cross which heads north in the wood. When you arrive on a large and panoramic ridge at 800 m, you meet the branch on the left which goes to Mount Priafaia (there is a sign for: "Monte Beigua" red triangle path). Leave the red marks behind, go up along a small wood, then go straight on a grassy and steep incline. Here you reach a large ridge and, keeping the left along a rocky crest, you will reach the cross on the top of Mount Priafaia (964 m).

Madonna della Guardia di Varazze Sanctuary

Difficulty: E
Uphill gradient: 400 m
Walking time: 1,30 h
No trailmarker

It is an easy and short trip through the Mediterranean vegetation that has been ruined by frequent fires started in Varazze inland. It reaches a headland where there is the small Sanctuary that you can visit during the celebrations on 29th August and where the Invrea Marquises’ descendants are buried. From the square you can have a wonderful view from the mountains of Varazze (Mount Beigua massif) to the whole coast, from Apuane Alps, on the east, to Capo Noli and Ligurian Alps on the west. When the sky is clear you can see Corsica and some of the islands of Tuscan Archipelago.

You start from Varazze seafront, on the eastern side, taking the alley on the side of Varazze post office. The start of the trail is marked by a road sign. Go straight on in Via Cavour and, after a short slope, turn right in Via Don Minzoni. Go on and pass over the motorway flyover, go along the wall of the Ferruginosa dam and you will arrive at a junction where, on your left, the dirt road starts. It is closed by a bar, but you can pass on foot and here you will find a sign with the direction to the Sanctuary. Go on the dirt road and you will reach a house in località Braxi where there is a sign that tells you that you walked for 1800 m from the bar and there are still 1200 m missing to get to the Sanctuary. Go on through a small wood of mimosas and get to a second bar, go over it and reach the ridge dirt road which comes from Beato Jacopo Chapel.
Take this road turning right and, after a few hundred meters, you will arrive at the Sanctuary at 406 m. On the north side of the Sanctuay there are stairs that go up to an open room for visitors. Outside there is a well with a hand pump and the water (coming from the roof of the Sanctuary) is NOT drinkable. Next to the Sanctuary there are some picnic tables.
